Ronin is a brand that has been in the business for over four decades and its products are meticulously crafted, especially the judo gis. Their Single Weave Judo Gi is one of our favorites, and for a couple of good reasons.

Let’s hop in the review and see what this gi is all about.

Overview

The Ronin Single Weave Judo Gi is a lightweight gi that is intended to use mostly for training but can be used in beginner competitions as well.

It’s made from 100% bleached cotton, meaning that the color will not fade after long use. The material is really tough and durable, so it should last you a long time.

Construction & Features

As its name suggests, this gi from Ronin features lightweight single-weave construction, but it’s reinforced in many areas, including the shoulders, knees, lapels, sleeves, and more. This allows the gi to be very comfortable when you’re wearing it, while still providing the support and durability that is required of a good gi.

The stitching on the whole gi is done extremely well, especially in the lapels and shoulders. It doesn’t just look nice, but it also keeps the gi’s form stable after training. On the bottom of the jacket, you can see the diamond and rice grain patterns that are woven into the material. These are both traditional patterns, and they’re very neat to look at.

Comfort & Fit

This is one of the most comfortable gis for beginners out there. While the weave construction and the cotton make it very comfortable, it also makes it very breathable, and it’s easy to move around.

The gi does run big, and that’s the only issue we’ve found with it, so you should definitely keep an eye out for that. Overall, though, this gi is perfect for beginner judokas, as it will allow you to feel comfortable and confident during your first matches.

Durability

One of the most important factors that every judoka must consider before getting a new gi is certainly its durability. That goes for beginners as well, because, at the beginning of your training, you shouldn’t have to worry about getting your gi torn up.

The gi that we’re reviewing here is pretty durable, and it shouldn’t be damaged too easily. Ronin has done a pretty good job at making this gi both lightweight, so it doesn’t weigh too heavily on you, and durable, so it can last throughout your training without you having to replace it after a short time.

Conclusion
